flyer-7th-Feb

LGBT History Month will be showcasing music with a FREE concert in collaboration with Morley College on the 7th of February. This fantastic event will be part of the Month and will include performances from the Diversity Choir, the Hertfordshire Chorus performing a commission celebrating Alan Turing, and a performance from poet Dean Atta, as well as other special guests. This event is free but online booking is essential. To learn more go here. The Concert launches a Project entitled Educate OUT Prejudice at Morley College; part of its Education Toolkit. It is based on the principle that all learners should be free to learn in an environment where they and staff feel comfortable about sexual orientation and gender identities, although this is not always the case. This project will offer practical solutions to support the inclusion of LGB and/or T themes into the adult ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) curriculum. Further details about the project can be found here http://www.equalitiestoolkit.com/content/educate-out-prejudice The college will also be offering a range of extra curricular activities, events, exhibitions and courses as part of LGBT History Month 2014. ‘Eat Your Word’ is a four week course led by Artist Lucille Power. This course will present you with the opportunity to look at the use of language and labels, in particular in relation to LGBT people. The course starts on Wednesday 22nd January 10.30 to 13.30 and ends on 12th February. Further details on how to enrol for the course will appear on http://www.morleycollege.ac.uk/ For further information on all our History Month eventscontact Leo Alexander 0207 450 1841.
