Boots Removes Gender Signs For Toys

Boots has announced it will no longer categorise toys as being specifically for boys or girls. It is a move that seems to have caught the retailer on the back foot, responding to complaints of sexism on its shelves.

For years, campaigners have worked against the ‘pinkification’ of toys, with items such as Barbie stereotyping obsession with appearance as girly with science and physicality being regarded as boyish.

It is a move that could help future generations of children grow up defining themselves rather than being conformed into gender-stereotypes from outside.
