Straight Talking

…a performance that addresses attitudes towards LGB (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual) issues. This piece has been endorsed by Elly Barnes, LGBT Schools Advisor for Birmingham City Council and Number One on The Independent’s 2011 “Pink List”

We at Round Midnight are incredibly passionate about this subject and feel it is important to educate young people on these issues. So in light of LGBT history month, we would like to bring Straight Talking to your school.

The Straight Talking performance is 30 minutes long so fits into any timetable and also has a follow on workshop if required. The story follows a conversation between two best mates, Andy and Dan. However, Andy has been keeping something from Dan that he fears might change their friendship, forever. Andy is gay and wants to be open and honest and tell his best friend. But how will Dan react? The piece takes a look at stereotypes, preconceptions and prejudice as Dan struggles to come to terms with Andy’s revelation.
