Kent LGBTQ Youth Report 2015

This report outlines some of the experiences of a sample of young people identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and those questioning their sexual orientation or gender identity (LGBTQ) attending the LGBTQ youth hubs in Kent between August 2013 and December 2014 – as reported by young people themselves.

The paucity of LGBT teaching resources and materials for adults in Further Education, especially for ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) could hinder the development of a more inclusive curriculum offer.

NUT Prevalence of Homophobia Survey Report

This Prevalence of Homophobia survey was born out of the experiences of one secondary classroom teacher who was the subject of repeated physical and verbal abuse over a number of years.

This survey is then the product of a lot of hard work by a large number of people over a number of years together the thousands of classroom teachers who took time from their impossible workloads to complete the questionnaire all of whom I congratulate and offer my sincere thanks.

Set in the summer of 1984, a group of LGBT activists decides to raise money to support the families of the striking NUM. But the Union seems embarrassed to receive their support.. Previous British films that have premiered in Directors’ Fortnight include Billy Elliot and East Is East.

Quarter of LGBT young people have no adults to confide in, according to new research

“Listen to me – this isn’t just a phase”, is just one of the pieces of advice for adults from young LGBT people in the North West, identified in a new report. The research, led by LGBT Youth North West and supported by BBC Children in Need, found that the majority of young lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people in the North West felt adults were failing to support them with regard to issues around identity and mental health.

Child bullying victims still suffering at 50 – study

Children who are bullied can still experience negative effects on their physical and mental health more than 40 years later, say researchers from King’s College London. Their study tracked 7,771 children born in 1958 from the age of seven until 50.

Armistead Maupin’s ‘Tales’ Included in World Book Night USA – 23rd April

Each year, 30- 35 books are chosen by an independent panel of librarians and booksellers. After the book titles are announced, members of the public apply to personally hand out 20 copies of a particular title in their community. On April 23rd, they give their books to those who don’t regularly read and/or people who don’t normally have access to printed books, for reasons of means or geography.
