Sheryl Swoopes opens up about being a lesbian

Houston Comets Basket Ball player Sheryl Swoopes has been talking about being a lesbian. Last month she was honoured WNBA's Most Valuable Player.

Swoopes did not always know she was gay, and now fears coming out may affect her status as a role model.

Aged 34 and divorced with a young child, Swoopes decided to talk to a US magazine about her sexuality because she is tired of hiding her true feelings. Her partner's identity has not been revealed.
